This is a cool gym. You can tell it's older, and on a winter evening, it's dark, cold, and grungy -- but I loved the setting here. The front staff is very friendly. I just bouldered, but the problems were all interesting, even the V0s. It's also worth noting that this gym has some of the stiffest gym grades I've ever experienced. There are V2s here which are not a walk in the park.
They have big changing rooms with lockers (bring your own lock) and showers, towels are provided. There is also quite a big, nice gym area. There are no auto-belays, but many topropes and lead climbs.
Gym is really large with 2 boulder areas. The top rope and lead sections have great diversity in grades and a good variety for lead climbers which was exciting! There were some really tall walls and some shorter walls, so it was good for all people. The actual gym area was one of the largest I've seen at any climbing gym and really well equipped. The things I'm not a fan of are more so issues that I have with all movement gyms- there are GrirGris attached to all the top ropes, not all of them are smooth for belaying. Also you have to schedule a lead test way in advance, so if you're just visiting occasionally it's hard to be able to lead. This gym has a few area in ropes and the front boulder pit where there was a lack of lighting and it was really dark midday. Otherwise great experience first time!
Great place to not only climb , but has full gym and classes. Everyone is supper friendly
Movement is a great rock climbing gym with plenty of bouldering, top roping, and a well equipped weight section. They also have a yoga room, classes, and a sauna in the locker rooms. Offering introductory classes and monthly events, it's a great way to get introduced to climbing if you're new or challenge yourself on their hard routes if you're experienced.
It's a friendly environment, safe, and welcoming to well behaved teens.
A very well equipped climbing gym in the Sunnyvale area. Their top rope section is much larger actually has a great distribution of grades. Their rope climbing grades are extremely lenient: for ex. A 5.10c here is most likely a 5.9 in other gyms
Surprisingly, their workout area is also pretty big. Getting a membership here is going to fulfill most of your fitness needs.
Avoid peak hours if possible as it gets crowded and you ll have to wait in line for getting on the wall
I was quite nervous to come here alone as a beginner, luckily I started off with a free bouldering class at Santa Clara and worked up the courage to go where the walls are tall 😅 this place is super popular as well, but inwas able to do some climbing and belaying with reasonable wait times on a Wednesday …
I can't express enough gratitude for the exceptional experience my severely autistic friend and I had at Movement Climbing Gym. From the moment we walked through the doors, it was evident that this gym is dedicated to providing a top-notch …
Excellent climbing venue with very friendly staff and great ambience. Large variety of bouldering and rope climbing keeps it always exciting to go all the time.
Excellent weight training section. Basic equipment. No fancy machines. Can get a bit crowded. Overall, a great place for a solid workout.
Can be fun for beginners but Overpriced gym with probably worst sets especially rope. They rarely update routes now. I used to love coming here (was a member for 5 years) and had to stop because setting quality gets worse every time. Not …
